Same Equipment Different Buses

Demanding INIT Installation in Germany

We love a challenge! We were recently commissioned by Init to instal their EVENTPC3 ticketing systems into a fleet of 150 buses for the KRN Municipal Transport in Bad Kreuznach near Frankfurt. Because the fleet had been obtained from many different sources, it comprised of various different makes. Even when there were a number of buses of the same model, often the configuration would be different, meaning that very few installations were the same.

Our team of five engineers spent almost two months in Germany installing the Init EVENDpc3 system. Working with another contractor on the project and often requiring 12+ hour days, we completed the installations and commissioning on time and on budget.

Because the setup of each bus was often different, alternative cabling runs and terminations were often required. However, because the EVENDpc3 system principally comprises of a single unit, incorporating the card reader, display screen and printer, this certainly helped to make installation efficient.

The EVENDpc3 ticket printer has an ergonomically optimised user interface and supports EMV credit and bank card payments with a hybrid reader as well as all current forms of e-ticketing, including open payment applications. EMV combines the advantages of traditional transit cards (closed-loop system) with bank cards (EMV open-loop system), making life easier for both users and transport operators.

The EVENDpc3 has a powerful processor and significantly expanded storage capacity. Due to the powerful Microsoft Windows 10 IoT operating system, it enables the use of cost-effective standard software and facilitates future expansion. The device is already prepared for the new 5G mobile communications standard.

This is another example of how R&R can rise to the challenge. We can assist with both routine and demanding installations. We also provide a comprehensive service and maintenance solution for clients. Please contact us to discuss your next project or requirement. We do love a challenge!
